This is a story of unrequited love. But it is also one of great imagination and creativity. Jen and Ashlee were two of the more than 70 wonderful under 18 yo’s that auditioned for the coveted role of Burton Tour Guide. No, they didn’t get the opportunity to meet Tim, but the Blog Team – continuing our series of talent-spotting – thinks that it’s just a matter of time for these two.
The blog has already paid homage to two lads whose comic approach to the exercise brought us much mirth.
This week the girls inject a dose of poetry and lyricism that had even our web tech guys swooning about enchanted forests and secret doors in trees.
We think you, like us, will be greatly impressed by Ashlee and Jen’s moving image production skills and their intricate knowledge and love for Tim Burton’s films.
Jennifer Daisy McShera
“For a girl of her height, she’s pleasant that’s certain.
But she longs to live in the world of her master, Tim Burton”
We don’t often get poems composed for us at ACMI, “so it was with great pleasure and glee, that we received this entry”. Well, technically the poem is for Burton, but close enough. Jen demonstrates great artistic wizardry in this video and the production, involving multiple shot locations and costumes, is exquisitely lyrical. Such a memorable piece, and Jen, we really do hope you one day get to meet your sweet Victor Van Dort.
Ashlee Tayla
Watch as Ashlee conquers shyness to describe her love for Tim Burton’s films. Well Ashlee, there is absolutely no cause for you to doubt yourself! Your delightful and sweet-natured approach made us want to take this visual journey with you again and again. The editing is crisply executed. The pace is perfect. The cute props and clever visual flourishes bring the whole exhibition to life. And what a knockout tag! Welcome to Tim Burton: The Exhibition, which direction will you take?
Last week our eight young Tim Burton Tour Guides finally realised their dream and got to meet Tim Burton, and started their tour guide training. Now it’s WORK! (We hope that makes everyone else feel a little better).
They are a great bunch and we know you will enjoy learning more about who they are and what makes them tick. The first of the guided tours of the exhibition kicks off this coming weekend and tomorrow on the blog we’ll give you profiles of the debutantes and their tour times.
They’re excited and nervous. We’re excited and nervous. If you have plans to visit the exhibition and you’d like to meet these clever young people, please join us.

Hey there, thanks so much for this acknowledgment, it means a lot <3 <3

Only joking ofcourse !
Everyone at ACMI, I would like to thank you all so much.
This is so awesome!
And Jen, I loved the poetry!
I’ll be going to the exhibition tomorrow night, for a part of my birthday present.
I can’t wait.
