Jennifer’s first Tim Burton experience was at the age of six, with The Nightmare Before Christmas, but she really became a fan when she saw Edward Scissorhands later that year. The imagery and empathy for the main character has made a big impact and remained with her over the years.

Through Burton’s films, Jennifer says she has come to see death as a part of life rather than the end of it. Which is pretty profound really. Her favourite film is The Corpse Bride because of the unique characters and the blue hues which stir the emotions. She also loves the mix of darkness and child-like innocence which consistently feature in Burton’s films and she identifies with, and shares his love for, the outcast protagonists.

Jennifer wants people to know that beyond his most famous films, Tim Burton is also a brilliant artist. And judging by this mind-bending piece, so is Jennifer:

Jennifer will be conducting a free tour of the Tim Burton Exhibition on Sunday 4 July 2010 at 11am.
