Acclaimed contemporary artist Julian Rosefeldt joined us recently at ACMI as part of the opening festivities for our Star Voyager exhibition.
Rosefeldt is a Berlin-based video artist who works primarily with multi-channel film and video installations. ACMI recently exhibited his work American Night, and his 4-channel video work, The Shift (2008), is currently featured in the Star Voyager exhibition.
In this video, Rosefeldt talks with Star Voyager co-curator Sarah Tutton about The Shift’s references to films 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris, the art of cinematic sound design, and his preoccupation with science fiction imagery.
