Tony Birch joined us last week to talk favourite films in our final Desert Island Flicks session for the year. The Melbourne-based writer (Shadowboxing, Father’s Day, Blood) revealed a top five featuring strong literary themes, from the anti-hero of The Hustler, to the all-consuming romance of Splendour in the Grass and the unconventional coming-of-age story of Kes.
